How Bergen County works for a dumpster.

Bergen County is where DeLalla Carting started and where most of our trucks are on any given day. The county's towns are small and close together, and their rules are not the same: some boroughs allow a container in the street with a permit from the building department, others do not allow street placement at all, and a handful ask for paperwork even on a private driveway. We know which is which because we deliver into these towns every week, and we confirm the rule with the town before your delivery is scheduled.

What Bergen County will and won't take from you

Curbside bulk pickup in Bergen towns is for a couch or a mattress, on the town's schedule, and never for construction debris. A renovation, a roof or a full cleanout is a container job.

The Bergen County Utilities Authority runs free household hazardous waste collection days for county residents, with ID, for paint, automotive products, pesticides, propane and similar. Those materials cannot go in a dumpster, ours or anyone's, so plan a drop at a BCUA event for them and load everything else into the container.

Dirt, concrete, masonry fill, tires, asbestos and fuels are not accepted in our containers. Wood, drywall, roofing, insulation, carpet, tile, furniture, metal and yard debris all are.

Bergen County dumpster questions.

Do you deliver to every town in Bergen County?

To every town listed on this page, and to most others in the county. If your town is not on the list, call (201) 913-9400 and ask. We'll tell you straight whether we serve it.

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Bergen County?

Usually not for a container on your own driveway, but 17 Bergen County towns do require one even on private property (marked 'Permit even on driveway' on this page), and several others have not published a driveway rule, so we confirm before every delivery. Street placement depends on the town: some allow it with a permit, some don't allow it at all. The list on this page shows what we know for each town.

How fast can you deliver in Bergen County?

Often the same day or the next morning. We're based in Westwood, in the middle of the county, and the trucks are out in these towns every day. Call and we'll give you a real time, not a window.

What does a Bergen County rental include?

14 days, 2,000 lb on the 12-yard or 4,000 lb on the 20-yard, driveway protection boards, sweep-up at pickup, and $25 off if we're late. Overage is $130 per ton and is explained before you load.
