Most driveways in Bergen and Rockland take a container without paperwork, but a few towns want a permit even on private property and Leonia has not published its rule. Bulk pickup versus a dumpster. What Leonia collects at the curb: Bulk trash (household furnishings such as chairs, sofas, rugs) is collected curbside on the second Thursday of every month (changed in Dec 2025 from a bi-weekly schedule). White goods (washers, dryers, refrigerators, stoves, A/C units, misc. metal) are picked up by DPW appointment. DPW 201-592-5790. That works for a couch. A whole garage, a roof or a renovation is a container job.

Usually not for a container on your own driveway, though a few nearby towns do ask for one and Leonia has not published its driveway rule, so we confirm it with the borough before delivery. We put wood boards under the rails on every delivery, at no charge, and set the container down gently rather than dragging it. Asphalt, pavers, concrete and gravel drives in Leonia all get the same treatment. When we pick up, we sweep the spot.
