Bulk pickup versus a dumpster. What Dumont collects at the curb: DPW runs monthly Bulk Metal pickup by side of town (East/West schedules; hot water heaters/furnaces need a Building Dept permit and sticker; furniture is NOT accepted as metal). Furniture/bulky-item rules were not found on the borough site; a borough announcement described a January curbside bulk period. That works for a couch. A whole garage, a roof or a renovation is a container job.
Dumont Code has an Article III Demolition Debris; Chapter 196 makes the property owner responsible for the permit fee and requires permittees to repair any damage to the public roadway, curbs, sidewalks or utilities.
